Man charged with high range drink driving at Kalbar

A 61-year-old man has been charged after he was caught drink driving, allegedly returning a blood alcohol concentration of more than five times the legal limit, at Kalbar.

At around 2.45pm on Saturday officers conducted a roadside breath test (RBT) at a hotel car park on George Street.

The Kalbar man was taken to Boonah Police Station for further testing, where it’s alleged he recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.305 per cent.

He has been charged with one count of driving a vehicle under the influence and had his licence suspended.

He has been issued with a Notice to Appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on July 15.

The detection forms part of Operation Cold Snap a high visibility road safety operation running throughout the June/July school holidays.
