A permanent and visible reminder of Greater Springfield’s commitment to helping bring an end to domestic and family violence has been unveiled at Orion Springfield Central with the
installation of a ‘Red Bench’.
Community leaders and stakeholders along with Red Rose Foundation CEO, Betty Taylor
were on hand to witness the unveiling of the new bench.
State Member for Jordan, Charis Mullen says the ‘Red Bench’ is an important reminder
that DV is happening in our community and we all have a role to play in ending it.
“The Red Bench initiative was started by the Red Rose Foundation and there are now more
than 300 benches installed across Australia,” Ms Mullen says.
“A number of us felt very strongly that we needed to have a Red Bench in Greater
Springfield as a way of raising greater awareness of domestic and family violence in this
community.
“It was wonderful to work alongside some strong advocates and supporters to get the bench
installed”, Ms Mullen adds.
