BOOVAL|Emergency declaration revoked after device detonated

UPDATE|

Police have revoked a PSPA declaration following an earlier operation at Booval.

Police were initially called to Bergin Street around 3pm following reports of a suspicious device being located.

Specialist police from the Explosive Ordinance Response Team were brought in to identify and remove the device, with a controlled detonation being conducted nearby just after 6:30pm.

The PSPA was revoked at 7:21pm, with investigations into the device continuing.

Members of the public are thanked for their assistance during the operation.

Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) due to an ongoing operation in Booval.

The PSPA was declared at approximately 5:03pm with the exclusion zone including Brisbane Road, Alexander Street, Clifton Street, and Bergin Street.

Members of the public are advised to avoid the area and those within the exclusion zone are asked to remain indoors until further notice.
