Police are searching for the offenders of a wild crime spree across South East Queensland overnight.

Around 1.25am, a gold coloured Toyota Camry sedan with the false number plates ‘BIG RIG’ attended a service station on Queen Street in Wallon, Ipswich.

Four people exited the vehicle and forced entry to the business, where they stole a quantity of cigarettes and then fled in the car.

At approximately 3.00am, the same car arrived at a business along Stapylton-Jacobs Well Road in Alberton, on the Gold Coast.

Four people armed with a machete, axe, baseball bat and gardening shears have exited the vehicle and forced entry to the business.

They broke into a number of poker machines and assaulted a staff member before fleeing the scene in the car.

The staff member, a 36-year-old man, was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly those with CCTV or dashcam vision of the vehicle involved, which has panel damage to the front passenger side above the wheel.

Anyone with information about the incidents can also make anonymous reports to police.
