Ipswich police have put drivers on notice after 29 children were caught travelling unrestrained in vehicles during a targeted road safety operation.
Among those detected during the two-day operation across Ipswich was a Redbank Plains woman allegedly driving with four unrestrained children in her vehicle.
The 66-year-old was fined more than $5,500 and incurred 19 demerit points.
Police issued 49 infringement notices and conducted 258 random breath tests during the operation.

Senior Sergeant Jarrad Tyne said there was no excuse for failing to properly restrain children.
“It’s extremely concerning to see children put at risk in this way. Child restraints and seatbelts save lives and ensuring children are properly secured is a basic responsibility of every driver,” Senior Sergeant Tyne said.
“An unrestrained child can suffer serious injuries or even life-threatening injuries in a crash, even on a short trip. There is no excuse for failing to take this simple but critical step to protect them.
“Police will continue to target dangerous driving behaviours and hold motorists accountable for offences that put themselves and other road users at risk,” he said.
