The Lockyer Valley’s flood cameras have sparked a pub rivalry, with local hotels using rising water levels to promote their venues.
Residents checking flood cameras got more than they bargained for, with the Queensland National Hotel, Forest Hill Hotel, Grandchester Hotel, Mulgowie Hotel and Porters Plainland Hotel turning the live feeds into a battle for bragging rights.
Local fitness group Hype Girl Fitness initially shared the images online, saying the stunt highlighted the community spirit shown during a difficult few days.
The messages included “QN Hotel is d best!”, “Forest Hill Hotel is better!”, “Grandchester on top!”, “Mulga pub’s unreal!” and “Pints at Porters”.

The Mulgowie Hotel later posted a cheers to whoever hung up their sign up in the ‘battle of the flooded pubs’.
The light-hearted rivalry comes as flood conditions continue to ease across the Lockyer Valley.
The Bureau of Meteorology has cancelled its flood warnings for Lockyer and Laidley creeks, while police have lifted the Watch and Act alert for Laidley and Glenore Grove.
Motorists are still being urged to take care, with floodwaters continuing to affect more than 15 roads across the region.
