The Rugby League community has pulled together with family and friends of two teenage boys, who are currently fighting for their lives in hospital, after being struck by an out of control car at Booval last week.
Lennox-Murphy Gaudin-Kasupene and Eli Thomas Kleidon, both aged 14, were sitting outside a takeaway shop on Gledson Street on Friday when a blue Ford Falcon sedan swerved out of control and struck them.
The two teenage boys are well-known in the local Rugby League scene; with Lennox playing for the Goodna Eagles and Eli the North Tigers.
Goodna & District Junior Rugby League Club Registrar Anita Cusack said that everyone is devastated after news of the tragedy.
“It has really shaken all of the kids! I’m getting inundated with all of the text messages wanting updates and people sending their prayers and their thoughts.
“Times like this we all get together and rally together,” she said.
Goodna Eagles Registrar Anita Cusack said that the club has launched a fundraising campaign to support the boys.
“We personally know Lennox, Eli is a friend of Lennox and they go to school together but we want to support both families.
“Every donation, no matter the size, will go toward helping manage with medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, and the unexpected challenges that come with such a life-changing event,” Ms Cusack said.
So far $15,000 has been raised of the $22,000 needed to help the families.
