Remembrance Day: Where you can pay your respects in Ipswich

November 10, 2023 9:41 pm in by

We’re being asked to observe a minute’s silence at 11 o’clock for Remembrance Day on Saturday.

It’s a chance for locals to honour those who fought and died in World War I and II and all wars since.

Remembrance Day occurs each year at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month since 1918 to formally mark the end of the Great war and the signing of armistice between Germany and the allied powers.

As in military tradition the “Last Post” is sounded at the end of the service, which originally signalled the end of day’s activities.

Locals can join commemorative Remembrance Day services at a wide variety of locations across the city on Saturday.
