Police investigate alleged road rage incident at Springfield Lakes

Police are seeking public assistance to identify the driver of a dark coloured Mazda sedan who may be able to assist police with their investigations into a traffic incident and assault at Springfield Lakes in Ipswich, on Thursday July 20.

Initial investigations indicate the 34-year-old driver of grey Honda Accord sedan turned off the Centenary Highway and was driving on the Springfield Greenbank Arterial Road around 10am when he noticed the car beside him was driving erratically.

The Mazda reportedly pulled out in front of the Honda and stopped abruptly, forcing the Honda to stop.

The Mazda driver exited his car, approached and threatened the Honda driver before punching him in the face multiple times, and damaging the car’s keys and ignition.

The man fled the scene in the Mazda.

The 34-year-old man sustained two broken teeth and bruising over his face and body. He was able to seek medical assistance.

The offender is described as Islander in appearance with a large build.

Police are asking any people who may have witnessed the assault or who have any dashcam of the incident, to contact Crime Stoppers.
