A 25-year-old Caboolture man has been arrested following investigations into a domestic violence incident in Dakabin last week where a woman sustained a gunshot wound to her upper leg.
Just after 8pm on February 19, the 24-year-old Raceview woman was getting into a vehicle when a man approached and fired a weapon at her.
The woman was transported to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with an injury considered non-life threatening.
The man then fled the area but was located and arrested today (February 27), following investigations into a two-vehicle-crash at Clontarf.
At 8.45am, police were alerted to the crash on Ted Smout Memorial Bridge southbound, where a motorcycle had crashed into the back of a car, causing the rider to fall.
A second motorcycle then stopped at the site and the first rider jumped on the back and left the crashed, motorcycle behind on the bridge.
A member of the public later contacted emergency services around 9.30am regarding an injured man located on Gladstone Street in Brighton.
Emergency services transported the 25-year-old Caboolture man to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries, believed to be from the Clontarf crash.
He remains under police guard while being treated for his injuries with charges pending relating to the shooting. Police do not believe anyone else was involved.
Anyone with relevant dashcam footage of the crash today or who may know the identity of the second motorcyclist is asked to contact police.
Investigations are ongoing
