One of Australia’s top racing drivers has hit the track at Queensland Raceway at Ipswich.

Will Davison put in a full day of testing ahead of the Thrifty Bathurst 500, which begins in a fortnight.

He was among four Queensland-based squads, which were put through their paces at Willowbank yesterday.

It is also the first time teams have conducted a full day of testing with updated aerodynamic packages, following offseason wind tunnel testing Supercars conducted at Windshear in North Carolina, using world-best practice to ensure aerodynamic parity between the Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang.

Meanwhile, Two-time Bathurst winner Will Davison said it was nice to feel the nerves after getting back on the track.

“Obviously like most teams we’ve spent most of January in the workshops — there’s been a lot going on from a homologation point of view.

“So it is cool to come here today and obviously test the cars in a slightly different configuration and start a new year full of hopes and dreams and try and tidy up our weaknesses from last year.

Will Davison said he was feeling quite confident ahead the 2024 Supercars series.

“I feel really good about the preparation, the work we have been doing, it’s all there to have a big season — so we’ve just got to get on with it” he said.

“It’s all minute stuff, you can feel the aero window we’re working in is a little bit different — the car feels quite nice so it’s always a positive sign,” Will Davison said.

On-track action at the Bathurst 500 begins Friday, February 23, with two 250-kilometre races scheduled across the weekend.

The Thrifty Bathurst 500 follows the Repco Bathurst 12 Hour, the two race weekends forming the Bathurst SuperFest, with 11 days of action and entertainment at Mount Panorama and in the city of Bathurst.
