Alleged Drink Driver Found Asleep Behind Wheel in Gatton

A Lockyer Valley man has been charged after allegedly blowing nearly four times the legal alcohol limit.

Police were called to Railway Street in Gatton at just before 11 on June 27 after reports of a man driving in a dangerous manner.

Upon arrival officers located a 32-year-old man allegedly parked in a driveway and asleep behind the wheel of a white Toyota Camry.

The man was subjected to a breath test where he allegedly returned a positive result. He was detained for a secondary test where he allegedly returned a blood alcohol concentration of 0.198% – nearly four times over the legal alcohol limit.

A 32-year-old Gatton man was charged with one count of driving a vehicle under the influence and had his licence suspended.

He has been issued with a Notice to Appear in Gatton Magistrates Court on 28 July.
