The Claws Are Out: Marvel’s Wolverine Finally Has a Release Date

After what feels like a lifetime of staring at that singular, moody teaser of a flannel-clad back and some very sharp Adamantium, we finally have a date to circle in our calendars. PlayStation and Insomniac Games have officially confirmed that Marvel’s Wolverine will be slashing its way onto the PlayStation 5 on September 15, 2026.

Timing is Everything

The mid-September launch is a savvy move by Sony. It places Logan squarely in the spotlight almost exactly a year after the brutal gameplay reveal of 2025. More importantly, it gives the world’s grumpiest mutant a two-month head start before the absolute juggernaut that is Grand Theft Auto VI arrives in November.

By the time you’ve finished exploring every nook and cranny of Insomniac’s vision of the Marvel Universe, you’ll just have enough time to wash the blood off your claws before heading to Vice City. It’s a busy year for our wallets, but a great one for our consoles.

What We Know So Far

Insomniac have said we are looking at a full M-rated experience. Reports suggest a darker, narrative-heavy adventure that leans into the visceral violence Wolverine is known for.

While the recent announcement didn’t come with a fresh trailer (shame, that), we already know we’re in for:

  • A Familiar Universe: The game is confirmed to share the same continuity as the Marvel’s Spider-Man series.
  • Iconic Foes: Players can expect to go toe-to-toe with the likes of Sabretooth and Mystique.
  • Traversal with Flare: While Logan isn’t swinging from skyscrapers, he will be tearing up the roads on his signature motorcycle.

The Road to September

With the release date now set in stone, Insomniac is likely entering the final “polish” phase of development. For those of us who have been following the breadcrumbs since the 2021 announcement, the finish line is finally in sight.
