A bushwalker has been winched to safety after becoming injured while trekking at Mt Barney in the Scenic Rim.
The Toowoomba-based Lifeflight Helicopter was brought in yesterday to rescue the man, aged in his late teens, after suffering leg injuries following a fall in rough terrain.
Lifeflight says that a rescue crew officer remained connected to the helicopter due to the precarious nature of the hikers’ position during the recovery operation.
The patient, alongside another hiker, were winched back into the helicopter and taken to the base of the mountain.
The patient was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital by Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics.
