The Tivoli Drive in Theatre has closed after almost 50 years serving locals.
The movie theatre says they had no choice but to close – hoping to stay open over summer but weeks of storms and more predicted sped up the move.
“We have been forced us to bring forward the inevitable and announce the end of Drive In Movies at the Tivoli Drive In Theatre,” CEO Fred Muys posted on Facebook.
“We had hope to stay open for the summer at least but following weeks on end of storms and rain and continuing forecasts of wet weather through the coming weeks,” Mr Muys wrote.
A mix of bad weather, lower numbers coming through the ticket office, lack of new releases and costly upgrades have caused the theatre to close up shop.
“Thank You for you amazing support over the past 18 years since we reopened in 2008. All the best.”
The drive in first opened in 1976 marking a sad end of an era.
