Ipswich man charged with attempted murder after alleged attack in a Brisbane home

An Ipswich man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed a sleeping man and poured petrol over him after breaking into a Brisbane home.

Police allege the 25-year-old from Camira entered the South Brisbane property at around 5:15am on Saturday.

It’s alleged he only stopped the attack when he was interrupted by another occupant in the home, before fleeing the scene.

He was arrested by police at a Morayfield shopping centre on Monday.

His case is expected to return to a Brisbane court next month.

The victim, a 27-year-old West End man, remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police allege the pair were known to each other.
