Springfield Police Station – 24 hour weighted ruck

Recent events within the first responder’s community, especially the QPS have highlighted over looked and unseen issues that must be addressed. We are conducting a 24-hour weighted march starting on Wednesday the 24th of September 2025 at 12pm and finishing on the 25th of September 2025 at 12pm, the event itself will line up with “Police Remembrance Day” which is being held on the 29th of September this year.

The aim of the event is to continuously walk for a 24-hour period, we will be donning our Police issued Integrated Load Bearing Vest (ILBV) or equivalent, to symbolise the struggle and invisible weight one carries when dealing with mental health.

We will be fundraising for the Queensland Police Legacy who is a not-for-profits organisation. It was established in 1971 and assists the eligible dependent families of deceased Queensland Police Officers, Queensland Police Officers whose spouse/partner have died and Queensland Police families with a parent suffering from an incurable/terminal illness. Queensland Police Legacy is currently supporting 56 Queensland Police families and meeting the educational expenses of 86 dependent legatee children.

Essentially, we want to bring awareness to the issues we face as a community when it comes to our mental health. We want to start conversations within our teams, share stories and show that it is OK to ask for help AND raise money for a great cause at the same time

WHY?
▪ To bring awareness to the
mental health issues we
face within the QPS
community.
▪ To instil resilience within a
team environment.
▪ Shared hardships bring
people closer together.
▪ Start conversations, Share
experiences, Share the
weight.
▪ Fundraise for Police
Legacy.
