Two men killed in fiery head-on truck crash near Blackbutt

Two truck drivers have been killed in a fiery head-on crash in the South Burnett.

Police shut down the D’Aguilar Highway at Nukku near Blackbutt and declared an emergency after a fuel tanker and a heavy rigid transport truck collided and burst into flames at around 6 this morning.

The driver of the fuel tanker, a man aged in his 50’s, sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.

The driver of the heavy rigid transport truck, a man aged in his 30’s, also passed away at the scene from his injuries.

Currently the D’Aguilar Highway remains closed in both directions with a one kilometre exclusion zone in place.

It encompasses parts of the highway and the northern end of Nukku Road and southern end of Nukku Boundary Road.

The Toowoomba Forensic Crash Unit (FCU) is continuing investigations.

Anyone with relevant dashcam footage is urged to contact police.
