A Hillcrest man has been charged over a wild police chase in Ipswich.
Police allege that it began when officers attended a property in Riverview yesterday, in relation to a stolen Great Wall ute that was seen at the address.
It’s alleged that the 20-year-old used the ute to crash through a locked gate before ramming a police car.
The vehicle was eventually stopped by a tyre deflation device and he was arrested a short time later after fleeing on foot.
An officer sustained an injury during the arrest and was taken to St Andrew’s Hospital for treatment.
The 20-year-old has been charged with offences including damaging an emergency vehicle when operating a motor vehicle, endangering and obstructing police, driving while being adversely affected by an intoxicating substance and dangerous operation of a vehicle.
He will front Ipswich Magistrates Court today.
