
Ipswich’s Ashleigh Barty has claimed the biggest W.T.A title victory of her blossoming career, by becoming the first Aussie to win the Miami Tennis Open.
Ash cemented her rise into the top 10 rankings for the first time, with a 7 – 6, 7 – 1, 6 – 3 win over fifth-seeded Karolina Pliskova on Saturday.
It’s the 22 year-old’s fourth W.T.A title, earning her the winner’s cheque of $1.8-million, and now world number 9 on the tennis rankings.
