
Ipswich’s Ash Barty is poised to make history, as the first Australian woman to hold a tennis’ World No.1 ranking at year’s end.
Ms.Barty reclaimed the top spot after its previous holder, Naomi Osaka suffered a fourth round loss at the U.S Open.
The loss places Barty as hot favourite to end the year as no.1, despite crashing out of the New York competition against China’s Wang Xiang.
