Our local World Number One tennis champion, Ashleigh Barty has been named Queensland’s Young Australian of the Year for 2020.
The 23-year-old from Ipswich has become a household name, after winning her maiden Grand Slam singles title at the French Open this year, and scaling the summit of women’s tennis.
Ms.Barty’s father, Robert said he’s extremely proud of his daughter, after accepting the award on her behalf in Brisbane last night.
