
Engine trouble has destroyed Toowoomba driver Will Power’s race at the Road America course overnight.
The Indy 500 champion suffered a catastrophic engine failure on the first lap, limping back to the pits and remaining there for some time before struggling back onto the track…but not for long, retiring from the race having completed only one more lap.
The D.N.F has dropped him back to fifth place on the Indy Car leader ladder, currently headed by New Zealander Scott Dixon.

An obviously disappointed Power said he didn’t know what had gone wrong mechanically, but added “as quickly as luck can swing your way, it can swing back the other way as well”.
