Detectives are continuing to search for a predator who climbed into a young girl's Sydney bedroom and assaulted her.
The eight-year-old was asleep when the man climbed through a window and onto her bed before indecently assaulting her at the family's Kingsford home in the early hours of Monday.
The child was not physically injured but "extremely distressed" and told her mother, who then contacted officers.
A large-scale manhunt is underway with officers again sweeping the area on Thursday, NSW Police told AAP.
CCTV footage shows the man using what appears to be a chair to climb into the raised ground floor window about 2.50am. He re-emerged and fled two minutes later.
"This is a very rare but obviously a very serious matter," Superintendent Karen McCarthy told reporters on Wednesday.
"We are working closely with the family to make sure they are well supported. The welfare of our young victim and family is of paramount importance."
The CCTV footage has been shared on social media platforms with many people urging parents to lock their windows in Kingsford.
The man - wearing a dark hooded jumper, cargo pants and a hat - was last seen running down Barker Street near the University of NSW towards McDonald's.
The girl told police the man had an Australian or British accent.
