We could see up to 30 mills of rain land in Ipswich and surrounds on Monday according to the Weather Bureau's Harry Clark.
So far almost 10 mm has landed at Amberley.
Mr Clark said "there's going to be a continuation of these showers for much of the day, falls anywhere up to 30 millimetres can't really be ruled out at this stage and even the chance of an odd rumble or two".
A check at Amberley and Archerfield shows there haven't been any lightning strikes there yet.
Mr Clark added it will be a bit hit and miss, in terms of which areas get the best drenching. He also said the storm would more than likely be "really strong showers with occasional lightning bolt".
And for landowners desperate for rain to ease drought conditions, the Bureau is forecasting more showers over the next seven days.
