Severe Thunderstorm Warning – Southeast Queensland:
for DAMAGING WINDS, LARGE HAILSTONES and HEAVY RAINFALL

For people in parts of Logan, Scenic Rim, Western Downs, South Burnett, Ipswich, Toowoomba and Lockyer Valley Council Areas.

Issued at 4:59 pm Tuesday, 27 September 2022.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 4:55 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Boonah, Mt Mowbullan and Aratula. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to northeast. They are forecast to affect Rosevale by 5:10 pm and the area west of Kingaroy, Jimboomba and Harrisville by 5:25 pm.

Damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding are likely.

39 mm of rainfall was recorded over 30 minutes up to 2.45pm at Karara (west of Warwick)

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it’s flooded, forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.

The next warning is due to be issued by 5:30 pm.
