Scenic Rim MP Jon Krause has blamed the Queensland government for delaying vital funding to help bushfire affected farmers.
Grants of up to $75,000 are now available in bushfire affected areas including Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim, Somerset and Toowoomba.
He says the money has only just been made available months after he requested it from the Palazczuk government:
"Back in November, I called on the state to do a proper assessment by sending out officers from the Department of Agriculture to talk to farmers about their losses and clearly that hasn't occurred.
It got to the point where I myself rang a lot of primary producers to find out what their losses were and fed that information into the federal government myself to get this process going
It shouldn't have come to that -- the state should have done their job".
