Ipswich man charged with murder following fatal stabbing on Gold Coast

Gold Coast Detectives have charged a 23-year-old man with murder following investigations into a homicide that occurred at Hope Island yesterday, March 11.

The 23-year-old Redbank Plains man was taken into custody at a Santa Monica Boulevard, Hope Island address around 5:30pm.

He has since been charged with murder.

He was refused police bail and is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today, March 12.


Police have taken two men into custody in relation to a homicide that occurred at Hope Island today, March 11.

At approximately 2.20pm, police were called to a shopping centre carpark at Santa Barbara Road following reports a man had been seriously assaulted.

Emergency services attempted to revive the man; however, he was declared deceased at the scene.

Police located and arrested a 23-year-old Surfers Paradise man around 4.45pm and a 23-year-old Redbank Plains man around 5.30pm in a nearby area.

Both men were known to the victim and there is no threat to the public.

Investigations are continuing.
