Two people have been left with critical injuries after a single vehicle crash at Helidon in the early hours of this morning.
It’s believed a grey 2009 Toyota Camry, which was allegedly stolen from a Toowoomba address on Tuesday, was travelling west along the Warrego Highway when it left the road a hit a tree before catching fire around 2.00am.
A passing motorist raised the alarm with emergency crews working to extinguish the blaze.
The pair, a man and woman both in their twenties were airlifted to the the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with serious burns and other injuries,
The westbound lanes of the Warrego Highway were closed throughout the night and reopened around 7.00am.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and appeal for witnesses, especially those with dashcam vision of the crash or the moments leading up to it, to come forward.
